I became an educator because… Working with children and schools is something I was very passionate about. My work has focused on working with TK and Kindergarten, but I have been fortunate to work with all age groups. Working with children has proved to have challenging days, but very rewarding ones as well. I am delighted in seeing their curious minds grow, see them become independent and build relationships.
Prior to Equitas, I… worked in after school programs both at the elemenatry level and middle school level. Both of these experiences allowed me to have a small insight on how much support is needed for a scholar. Being able to work with them on a daily basis give me the opportunity to provide support needed and be someone they can count on.
I chose Equitas because… Los Angeles is the place I am ecstatic about and call home. I grew up here and have lived here for the majority of my life. I attended LAUSD schools and received my high school diploma from Downtown Magnets HighSchool in 2010. I later went to attend community colleges and transferred to CSULA, which is where I graduated with a major in Sociology with a Minor in Gerontology in 2015. Being able to give back to the community I grew up in has been a dream.
Outside of school, I enjoy… running, hiking and eating. Trying dishes from different cultures and backgrounds allows me to learn about them and appreciate our differences. I also love to explore new places which is why traveling more often is on my bucket list.
