I became an educator because… I love history, and can't imagine how boring any other job must be! I wanted to be a teacher since I was a kid, and fell in love with social studies during high school. I went on to gain a BA in History and Education from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MA in History with a focus in Latin America from the University of Chicago.

Prior to Equitas, I… was a high school U.S. History and Civics teacher in the great city of Chicago, Illinois. I have also worked as an after-school program coordinator and K-12 substitute teacher.

Outside of school, I enjoy… hanging out with my husband and 2 cats; watching new and comfort TV and movies, especially comedy, sci-fi, and horror; cooking especially Mexican, Mediterranean, and whatever weird veggies I can find at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market; discovering new restaurants and cuisines; going to concerts and arts events; and collecting vintage clothing, records, and crystals!
