Teacher
I became an educator because… I love kids and want to be a role model for them in all aspects of life. Before long, they'll be the ones ruling the world!
Prior to Equitas, I… graduated from the University of Central Florida (GO KNIGHTS!) with a B.S. in Pre-Clinical Health Science and a minor in Education. After graduating, I realized my heart and vibes aligned with teaching rather than becoming a doctor. With that passion instilled, I then continued on to graduate with a M.A. in Elementary Education. At 20 years old, I became a substitute teacher and a year later had my first 3rd Grade class! I taught 3rd Grade in Orlando, FL for 2.5 years before moving across the country to LA! Once here, I worked as a substitute teacher at EQ, then RSP teacher at another charter school, and finally returned to EQ to teach 1st Grade–and now 2nd Grade!
I chose Equitas because… they stand for all things Equity. Coming from a state that hinders minorities, it is refreshing to teach at a school full of minorities who are recognized and celebrated each day. I believe that Equitas is also a community that has high goals for their scholars, but recognizes that they are kids and they need to live the fun life of one! I also love working with the families of Pico-Union and appreciate how nice and kind everyone is!
Outside of school, I enjoy… hanging out with friends, playing sports and being active (tennis, pickleball, boxing, and yoga are my current favs!), going to the beach, shopping, going on a hike, vibing out at concerts or festivals, traveling, exploring creative avenues, taking film camera photos, watching movies, and trying out new things in general!
