Teacher
I became an educator because… my great grandmother was a teacher for 30+ years. Hearing her stories and how she was the "quirky" teacher made me smile and laugh as a kid. I wanted to have those stories and make that impact on students. I have a poster in my class that says "The future of the world is in this room today." This is something that grounds me in my work as an educator everyday. We're making a huge impact on the future of the world with every person we help educate.
Prior to Equitas, I… taught in South Central and helped start a new school in Sacramento. I've been in the education field since I was in high school myself!
I chose Equitas because… I asked the leaders who interviewed me what their favorite things about EQ were. The community that is created amongst educators here at EQ is something every leader spoke about. Being apart of EQ now, that really rings true.
Outside of school, I enjoy… hiking, traveling, pottery, reading, painting, video games, cooking, and spending time with my partner and siblings!
