Wesley Veiga
Teacher
I became an educator because… I believe in the power of education and I have witnessed what it has done for myself and others from my backgrounds. Navigating my own identities has allowed me to discover the inequities placed on many underrepresented populations and explore my passion in creating opportunities of growth and joy for the next generation of learners.
Prior to Equitas, I… graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Education. Then, I moved to Los Angeles to become a teacher with Teach for America and pursue my M.A. in Transformative Education at Loyola Marymount University.
I chose Equitas because… my values align with striving for equitable access to a quality education for all scholars. My dream is to use this power of education and give back to the communities that need it most so that more of our youth have role models who support them in finding and accomplishing their dreams through a growth mindset.
Outside of school, I enjoy… listening to and/or making music, socializing with friends, and being in nature!
