Tanya Hernandez-Dominguez
Behavioral Interventionist
I became an educator because when I was younger, teachers and supporting staff became people who I felt comfortable talking to. They made it evident to each and every student that they were a source of trust. My intentions with becoming an educator was to make a lasting and significant impact on students academically, as well as being a trusted resource for their social and emotional wellbeing.
Prior to Equitas, I started as a Behavior Interventionist at a middle school for a 7th grade class. I followed my student until he culminated 8th grade and is now currently in highschool!
I chose Equitas because I wanted to continue my teaching journey around the area that I grew up in. I went to charter schools around the neighborhood when I was younger, so I'm familiar with what it's like to be a student and grow up around the Koreatown area. It was important for me to surround myself with diversity and contribute a piece of myself to my own community.
Outside of school, I enjoy doing arts and crafts, being outside, hanging out with my friends, and being a mom to my cat. I also love being at home to have cozy nights in, which helps me destress.
