I became an educator because… I come from a family of educators and have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. Before working in schools I worked as a popular educator in grassroots movement spaces teaching adults and youth practical organizing skills to use in our communities.

Prior to Equitas, I… I was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I lived in New York City in The Bronx and Harlem for 3 years before moving to Los Angeles in 2021. First I lived in Rampart Village and now my fiance and I live in East Hollywood.

I chose Equitas because… Pico-Union is a historically important neighborhood in Los Angeles and I am honored to work in an immigrant community similar to the one I grew up in.

Outside of school, I enjoy… Taking care of the 90+ plants in my apartment! Keeping up with my personal goal of reading one to two books a month and taking road trips.
