I became an educator because… I was inspired by my 9th-grade English teacher and my AP English Language teacher in high school. They brought literature to life for me and I thought it would be cool to get paid to talk about literature all day. I majored in English, joined Teach for America, and started my career as a High School English teacher.

Prior to Equitas, I… worked as a high school English teacher for 10 years in East Los Angeles before becoming a high school administrator just west of DTLA.

I chose Equitas because… I wanted to work at an organization that was deeply rooted in the community it served.

Outside of school, I enjoy… spending time with my husband, my daughter, and our 4 cats. My favorite place in the world is Disneyland.
